My blog post was queued up for the week when all the sudden I recognized I needed to pivot. I’m changing to a slightly different topic and that is the value of connection. Remember the post I wrote on ROR or return on relationship? After receiving tons of great feedback and a few reposts on that subject (thank you), I met with the author of ROR Dewan Clayborn of the Central Maryland Chamber of Commerce. Yesterday, Dewan and I swapped ideas on leadership and leader development, finding common connection in our commitment to organizational vision and mission execution.
His vision is to be the Catalyst for his business members and to drive the Region’s Economic Success. My mission is to develop the next generation of leaders for service to our nation and our business world.
As we continued our discussion Dewan shared with me a one-page visual summary of his strategic plan (imagine distilling your strategic plan onto a single page) while I shared my concept of team development called “a plan on a page.” Together we discussed the importance of leaders articulating clear, concise direction for our organizations while investing in the development of our team members.
We could have talked for hours but other work must get done.
What does your strategic plan look like? Can you articulate your vision and mission for your organization clearly and concisely? How are you developing your team?
Need help? Drop me a line and let’s get connected.
Fly high,
Barbara
